Our Journey Begins in the City of Cusco at 10,500 feet
above sea level.
We will stay our first two nights in Cusco to acclimate and take adventures in the city.
There will be over-night stays in Ollyantaytambo before we catch the early morning train to Aguas Caliente and Machu Picchu.
The other 9 sites we will visit will be before and after our Machu Picchu journey.
All travel, food, site entrances, and lodging will be included.
What to Expect and How to Prepare for this Journey!
We will begin our journey in Cusco which is an elevation of 10,500 feet.
Some people may get altitude sickness so there will be coca tea and coca leaves to chew on as a remedy.
We will be over 9,000 feet the entire journey throughout the Sacred Valley and ancient sites. Many times we will reach elevations over 13,000 feet.
I highly recommend getting a physical by your doctor before this journey if you have high blood pressure, heart conditions and physical limitations/concerns.
I would not consider this journey if you have bad knees, hips, back, or use any kind of aid to walk.
Temperatures in The Sacred Valley in January will range between 55-75 degrees and you need to be prepared for rain showers. Hiking shoes/boots are recommended.
We will avg. 1-4 miles of walking/hiking per day.
